Farmington Tigers head boys basketball coach Shane Wyandt steps down

Farmington head boys basketball coach Shane Wyandt stepped down from the position Monday after 12 seasons at the helm. Wyandt ends his tenure at Farmington with the most wins in school history with a 135 victories and the only coach to surpass the 100 win total.

Coach Wyandt built the program up from a one win team in 2005 to a Missota Conference championship in 2009, the school’s first since 1962. That 2009 team also set the record for most wins in a season totalling 20 victories. Coach Wyandt’s 2014 team finished with the second most wins in a season reaching 19. During that stretch Coach Wyandt oversaw Farmington’s transition from class AAA to class AAAA and also the transition from the Missota Conference to the South Suburban Conference in 2015.

Coach Wyandt also built a coaching tree that included former players such as Brent Mahlstedt and Jacob Sand coming back to coach for the Tigers. Trevor Davis a captain for Wyandt’s 2008 team also coaches collegiately.

We thank Coach Wyandt for his years of service, leadership, and for restoring the competitive tradition back to Farmington basketball.
